To enter the giveaway simply respond to this post in the comment box below and complete this sentence:

"I use a  [insert sewing machine type here]… The thing I like most about it is [tell us why]"

Comments must be left (on this blog post) by midnight (pacific) 12/29/2017.

I use a really old White machine. It weighs a ton and is in a cabinet. My uncle got it for me at an estate sale. It’s so quiet and it will sew through layers and layers of fabric with ease.

Who won? I never find out where it’s posted? same with most of the other days. I know if it was me I would here from y’all, but I don’t ever know who to congratulate! Same with past contest for the last several years. – Maybe posting it in the banner or on the home page each day would work better? Just a thought…

I sew/embroider on a Babylock Ellisimo Gold. I love the needle threader, thread knot & cut, bright light,…. I began hand sewing 65 years ago, then when I was 7 I graduated to my mothers White treadle machine. I have the machine in my home today. I have begun to restore it with new belt, but needles are not easy to find. I would love to stitch a bit with it!

I use a Brother Project Runway machine. What I like most about it is all the different stitches it has. I used to have plain old machine with no fancy stitches n it broke n this was a gift from a dear friend. I don’t know how to use it very good yet n I am not sure when I will ever use all the fanciness but I am learning new things all the time. Would love to win this beautiful set, or learn how to make one

I am sewing everything by hand at this time as I cannot afford a sewing machine. I used to have my mother’s old Singer machine, but it finally broke down and I’ve not been able to fix it (right now it is sitting in it’s carry case in my closet).

Perfect for making all kinds of accessories and fashions for my dolls.

I use an old White zigzag machine from the 1960’s with decorative cams for fancier stitches. My father bought used for me in 1974. Although it is very heavy so I don’t use it’s “portable” feature, I love it because it has all-metal parts and sews for everything, a real “work horse” which has only been serviced twice in all these years.

“I use a Pfaff quilt style sewing machine. It has a pressure thing that helps track material through properly and the machine itself has never given me any trouble. I also use a BabyLock Elanta serger that is so easy to thread. Gave away my old serger, because it was so complicated to thread, to a DCF worker who makes quilts for some of her clients. Figured it would come to good use. Thanks !

I have a circa 1964 Elna super. I also got a second one at a tag sale for $10! I like the non computer aspect. Stitching is very even. I also have a Viking SE. Depends on the project which one I use. Please consider sewing a Sewpowerful purse …or more in 2018. (Pixiefaire’s community project) The program supports young Zambian girls to stay in school. I’ve seen the joy and smiles that a purse brings to these young girls.

I use a Janome Overlocker (or serger) and a Janome 5200 for most other things – what I like most about them both is that , between the two of them, they are so versatile for tackling everything from heavy winter garments to dainty dolls’ clothes and Janome have so much support on their web sites as well as all the projects they post on their Sew4Home site, that I never run out of new projects to tackle and new ways of doing old things – been stitching for 60years + some.

I used to use a 1965 portable Singer. I loved it because it was so easy to operate. I broke a plastic gear hemming jeans. Now I have an even older 1960 Singer Rocket. It’s all metal. I’ve used my mom’s Bernina sewing machine (which is nice and sturdy, plus it has settings for different stitches) but so far I’ve only used a sewing machine for easy straight sewing like blankets/quilts. I’m excited to try the patterns I’ve downloaded here, but I’m intimidated by the sewing machine, especially on small/fine details, so I’m leaning towards hand sewing since it’s less overwhelming!

I have stitched with several brands in the 60 out of 71 years of my life and the above three machines have been my favorites.
