I got a used Janome recently. It’s a lightweight machine I can take with me, it appears to need little maintenance and sews a consistent stitch.

I use a Bernina 1130 sewing machine. The thing I like most about it is the needle down feature, the knee lift, and the 1/4" foot. These three features are super helpful when sewing doll clothes with their tiny seam allowances. I also like the overcast stitch for small curved areas where it’s too hard to use the serger.

I use a 1970s Kenmore sewing machine, a newer Necchi NE30 machine & a Brother serger. I appreciate being able to use each machine as it best suits a project. My Kenmore handles knits very well & has a great bobbin winder. The Necchi is computerized & fairly quiet. It has handled speciality fabrics like satins well.

I use an old Necchi sewing machine. It works fine even after all the years I’ve had it – over 30 years. I would like a new machine and a serger, but can’t afford it. I love sewing for dolls and can do most things with my Necchi. I also love to hand sew, knit and crochet. I intend to sell my designs and doll clothes but at the moment am unable to do much as I fell and broke my shoulder. But I am collecting ideas and inspiration while I am an invalid.

I use 3 sewing machines – a Brother, a Bernina, and a Singer. The thing I like most about each is they all have their own strengths and weaknesses, the Brother is great for a quick repair or mending job, the Bernina is a dream to sew on & self-threads, and the Singer perfect is for heavy thick materials like canvas repair.

I use a Juki straight stitch at work, I had one at home but it burnt up in a house fire :-(. I love it because it is simple, straight forward and heavy duty for thicker fabrics and you can use it to sew most fabrics (maybe not so good on knits and stretch fabrics) I bought a Brother so I would have something to use at home and it is okay (has lots of different stitches) but I miss how strong and heavy duty the commercial machine is.

I use a simple old Brother sewing machine. No bells and whistles because Ican barely handle all the extra stitches it gives on there…as I’m STILL a beginner! Lol just a little true story…I was taught basics as a child but never picked up sewing. About 3 yrs ago My Ma and I were talking about Me “learning” how to sew clothes for my 9 yr old and her dolls. As I couldn’t afford to buy matching sets like some of her friends have. She gets to pick out material and accessories and we’re learning together now. I lost My Ma last August a yr ago and I couldn’t bare sewing for awhile bc I had no one I could call on for help when I got stuck!! Lol which was often! So anyway a few months ago when I was lucky enough to find Pixie Faire I have dragged My sewing machine out and once again begun to work a little on the simple things. Maddi (9 yr old) LOVES absolutely EVERY single pattern…so I sew and cry and know Ma is here with Me while I’m sewing! So many things she made for Me with such love, I now will pass onto My girls! Thanks for the new found inspiration!!!
THANK YOU Cinnamon for the opportunity to win such an amazing prize!

Blessings and Happy New Year,

I’ve always had just a regular sewing machine. Right now I’m using a Singer, but I’ve been thinking about getting a new machine that serges. Since most doll clothes call for finished seams that would be nice. But zigzagging works just fine too. The thing I like about it is that it gets the job done. Since I discovered Pixie Faire, that’s all I want to do is make doll clothes, and my sewing machine has helped me create some amazing things!

Would you believe I’ve had it five years, started sewing just before my niece was born; I always try to do at least 4-5 projects a year just for her; I call myself a beginner (I might be at intermediate), but I love my machine!
