My assumption is that most of us sew! We’d love to hear more about your sewing experience. Are you just learning to sew, or have you been at it for a while? Do you use a basic standard machine or one with all the bells and whistles? What about a serger, are you using one of those? (or wondering what in the world I’m talking about!)

I use a little electronic Elna 520, after my wonderful workhorse died after almost 3 decades. The thing I like the most – so many things to like! My Elna has some lovely features that I really enjoy – I like the presser feet with the guides (one gives a 1/4" seam, and the other guides down the centre of a seam) – just love the perfect seams they provide. I like the reverse of my favourite stretch stitch from my old machine – the Elna has both! It makes delicate sewing so easy. I like that the fabric never goes into the hole for the needle – this is likely the best feature because it is the most annoying thing on many of the machines that I tried, before choosing my little Elna. I have a basic serger too. I love making delicate items, lace, etc. and making bras on my Elna – it has everything I need for the way I sew now – doll clothes and bras, panties, slips, etc.. I have the teflon presser foot :) I love gadgets, and add whatever I can, as I come across them. I have a walking foot. I love the size and weight of the machine – easy to move around – easy to take to a class. I can do anything I want with this little electronic wonder – makes me happy. I really like the speed control feature! Sewing needs change as we become experienced, and I think everyone needs to be spoiled by a new model machine – nice to keep the old workhorse machines, if they still make parts. I am glad that I tried several machines, and found this little one. I love all of the fancy stitches. I love sewing small things. My hands need pampering, and my machine pampers them. :)
I have an inexpensive brother machine my husband gave me for my birthday a few years ago. I learned to sew on my mom’s singer. My machine sits under a dust cover. I hand sew everything and always have. By the time I get out the machine, thread it and wind a bobbin, I can have the bodice done by hand. Plus it gives you time to adjust and fit the item to the doll as you go along. I can sit comfortably on my couch with all my sewing materials around me and just sew. So relaxing and no frustration.
I use a singer future 250. The thing I like most is the built in decorative stitches. Just push a button and go. It also DOES embroidery $for extra special detakls.

I use a Kenmore sewing machine and the thing I like most about it is that it was handed down to me from my late grandma (who was absolutely amazing at sewing). I’m still learning and I hope to be able to come close to as good as my grandma was.
