I really like high Victorian gothic
I really love seeing how clothing changed over time…. My favourite time periods are Regency and the 1950’s.
My favorite time period is the Regency period. I love the empire waist dresses and the bonnets.
My favorite time period is the Regency period. I love the empire waist dresses and the bonnets.
My favorite historical time is the 50’s and 60’s. It just seems like it was such a lively time.
I have enjoyed sewing since I was 13 years old and have always loved dolls. Both of those interests have been renewed since I retired and received an American Girl doll at Christmas 4 years ago. When a good friend introduced Pixie Faire to me I explored the different eras of fashion and I became obsessed and enjoy all the eras of fashion your site offers. Many thanks!!!
My favorite historical time period is the 50’s because I was a wee one then and it is nostalgic for me. I guess I am of an “historic” age now.
It is hard to choose just one favorite historical time period because I like so many. I like the 1950’s because of the full and circle skirts, cute sweater sets, blouses, saddle shoes and penny loafers!
My favorite time period is the roaring twenties!
My favorite historical time period is the mid to late 1700’s.
MY favorite time period is the 50’s. Love the circle skirts with poodles, neck scarf and bobbie socks.
My favorite historical time period is 1800 primitives. my s-i-l buys & sells these and has really turned me on to the era. So loving & kind people.”
My favorite historical time period is the pioneer era.
My favorite historical period is 60-80s, specifically western wear and full skirts
My favorite era is the 50’s I loved the full skirts plus all the details on the dresses. Thanks!
My favorite historical period fashion wise would have to be the 50’s and 60’s!!
My favorite historical time period is the Victorian Age. The clothes were so fancy and elegant then.
I have the Kirsten doll so I like the pioneer days style. I would like to be there for a while to experience all the things they had to do to survive.
My favorite era would be Victorian. I love the fashion of that time period the most. I don’t know if I would want to have lived then, but I would love to have worn those clothes.
My favorite historical time period is all of the. The fashions tell a story of the era and location. I love to explore what was going on that led to style of the day.
My favorite historical time period is the Renaissance Era. I’m sure the clothes would have been most uncomfortable, but Gosh!!! they were gorgeous and extremely feminine.
My favorite time period is the Roaring Twenties. I love the hats and the swinging dresses!
My favorite historical time period is the Victorian period. I have visited England and some of the Victorian historical sites there and it is so easy to connect to this time period when you actually see what it was like in England in the 1800s.
My favorite historical period isn’t one era. I appreciate all and am intrigued by how fashion evolves over time.
It’s hard to choose! I love historical novels and museum visits, so my favorite time period ranges from the American colonial period to when my ancestors came to America in the first two decades of the 20th century. History is personal, not just factual, so your costumes help bring these cultural times to life, even if it’s just in doll form. :-)
My favorite historical time period is the 1800s. I love the long dresses especially those with lots of lace and frills.
My favorite historical period is … I love them all but medieval, Regency and Edwardian rank at the top.
My favorite time period is the 70’d
My favorite time period is early renaissance.
My favorite time period was the 1960s, during which I attended junior high school, high school, and college.
My favorite historical time period is the 18th century. I love the dress styles from that era.
My favorite historical time period is 1860s to the 1960s.
My favorite historical period is colonial. I admire the grit people hard to better themselves and the hard work they put in to do it.
My favorite historical time period would be the 70’s. This would have been my teen years when you began caring on what you were and what was trending.
My favorite historical time period for sewing doll fashion is the civil war era.
My favorite historical time period is the Regency, with the 1770’s in second place. It all began when my daughter asked me to make clothes for Felicity’s friend Elizabeth for my grand niece who was living overseas. Her parents had bought the doll to use to help teach her American History, but she had no clothes for the doll. I had such a good time doing it, that I began branching out to include the War of 1812 and Samantha’s clothes as my grandnieces great grandparent on her father’s side had been Swedish and Norwegian immigrants.
This is a tough question. I love all of the period represented in the 1800s. I suppose that I most enjoy the regency and civil war periods because of the silhouettes and the details.
My favorite era is a difficult question to answer. I love early American history so the colonial time period would be fun to sew. But I also love old westerns with the saloon girls versus the young wives and mothers. I add to the list the clothing from the 30’s and 40’s as that was the time my mother was a young woman and I would like to see more of the fashions she might have worn.
My favourite time period is the 50’s — I love full circle skirts.
My favorite period is the 1950’s as I like to make dresses like I used to wear.
My favorite historical time period is the Victorian era.
I love to see current fashions and have the dolls created in the same clothes. It’s amazing to see how many styles repeat.
I like classic movie theme costumes.
I love the simplicity of 50’s and extremes of the 60’. From poodle skirts to tent dresses and bell bottoms.
My favorite historical time period is the 1950-1980s. I was born in the late 50s but love the style clothing. The 50s had those dresses with the flared skirts and I especially loved their twirly poodle skirts and saddle shoes . The 60s brought the hippy style clothing with lots of their bold colors, polka dot fabrics, bell-bottomed jeans, tie-dyed shirts and ponchos. The 70s continued with the bell-bottomed pants, frayed jean shorts & pants, midi and maxi skirts/dresses, peasant blouses and you can’t forget the mod-look. The 80s made way for shoulder pads, bulky sweaters, mini skirts, off-the-shoulder tops, high-waisted pants, and trench coats. Those generations of clothing style were so wide ranged and vivid that it make you want to re-create those styles on your dolls.
My favorite historical time period is the fifties even though I really love them all until we get to the 80’s. I love the fun of it.
My favorite time period is probably Regency ,Victorian, and 1800s western pioneer!
My favorite time period is the twenties and thirties. I love the dresses and hats
My favorite historical time period is the 60s and 70s. I love the casual clothes worn at that time. I also love the Highland clothing though. All time periods have something to love.
My favorite time period is regency. I love reading historical romances and that is my favorite time period to read from. The dresses are not outlandish, but demure and feminine.
My favorite is the Victorian Era. Women’s dresses were beautiful and so detailed.
My\ favorable time period in the Victorian era. I love the details and won a blue ribbon at the state fair on the one I made this year,
My favorite era is during the Prairie Days of the late 1800’s.
My favorite period is 1850 to 1900
I don’t really have a favorite era. I like variety in my sewing so whatever comes along that is new is fun. I do enjoy making something for every holiday (major and minor) for each doll so there is that. Sometimes finding the fabric I want is more difficult than getting a new pattern. If you ever considered branching out into fabrics and notions scaled for dolls, I would be in heaven!
My favorite fashion period is the 30’s, 40’s…….its when fashion I feel was starting to take off. Its woman’s style was really starting to take off. That the hem lines were coming up from the mid 20’s.
My favorite historical period is any one that has fancy and detailed dresses and accessories!
I love all the historical costumes, but I think my favorite is the 1940’s because many of my handme down dresses came from that era.
My favorite historical time period is ancient history from Adam and Eve to ancient Sumer, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon,(all of the ancient near eastern civilizations), the Indus valley civilizations, ancient African civilizations, Rome and Greece as well as the ancient Mayas, Incas, etc. My interest in these ancient civilizations is due to the fact that they were much more advanced than evolutionary theories would expect (It seems that archaeologists frequently seem surprised about how advanced each civilization was.); there are unanswered questions/mysteries in each of them, even in how they interacted with one another; and these civilizations are mostly during the Biblical timeframe—which is the main reason that my interest in ancient civilizations began. Have a blessed new year!
My favorite time period is now, because the present is continually changing. Sometimes it is something new, sometimes it is retro.
My favorite period is the 1959’s because that’s when I was in my teens and having a great time!!

My favorite time period is the present. I love to make doll clothes that reflect current fashion.
My favorite time period is Edwardian. I also like the Medival and Regency time period.
My favorite historical time period is the 1930s/40s. I have always been drawn to this time period. I experienced the 50s as a child and the 60s as a teenager/young adult, but the experiences of my grandparents and parents that took place in the 30s and 40s really drew me in.
My favorite time period is Colonial American. I love the spirit of the colonists and the new way of life they made as well as the outfits that many wore.
I just love to sew any ere.
My favorite historical time period is the French Revolution. The history is fascinating, the clothes were stunning and varied, and it inspired wonderful books, movies, and musicals.
My favorite historical time would be the 30’s – 70’s. So many interesting styles with different sewing techniques.
I love all aspects and eras of historical fashion. But my very favorite era would be Victorian fashion.
My favorite historical time period is the 1960s. I love the retro clothes.
My favorite historical time was in the 60’s .
My favorite historical periods are Civil War and Victorian eras.
My favorite time period is the Civil War and Colonial eras.
I got a new sewing machine for Christmas!! Used my Bernina for 31 years and now have a fancier, digital one! Can’t wait to make more doll clothes and other creations,
I love creating something from something else. It’s magical to see it reinvent into something new and different.
My favorite historical time periods are the mid 1700s through the late 1800s. I love to see the progression of the fashion as well as the undergarments. I do especially love the regency era though because of Caroline and her books.
My favorite historical period is the Victorian period.
My favorite historical time period is regency!
My favorite historical time period is from when I was a kid—60s and 70s.
My favorite historical time period is Victorian era, followed closely by the 18th Century clothing. Both eras were beautiful and extravagant, especially for the wealthy or upper class.
My favorite time period is the 1930s. I love the fabrics and styles from that era.
I like the 1920’s and the flapper girls.
My favorite historical time period is Edwardian, any Victorian era is good as I only make clothes now to dress up some dolls for display.
My favorite time period is now, with access to all the previous time period patternss. I love sewing.
I like the pioneer days
I love fashion from the 40’s and 50’s.
My favourite historical period is the Regency era for its graceful gorgeous aesthetic.
My favorite historical period is the colonial period because I enjoy studying the history of our country through many visits to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia.
My favorite time period is 1930s and 40s.
I don’t have a particular time period I prefer for sewing, but my dolls prefer any time period with lots of color, frills, lace, beads and ruffles, except when they’re out gardening, climbing and playing.
The Rococo is my favorite! The drama and elegance cannot be beat.
I don’t have a favorite era. I love to sew doll sized clothes because I can sew from any time period… I wouldn’t have the time, resources or purpose for sewing all these things for myself
My favorite historical period for clothing is the Downton Abbey years. I love some of the look of the every day or elegant garden party dresses as well as the gowns. Love seeing how fabric was embellished.
Late 18th century
I love Jane Austin so that’s my favorite historical time period.
My favorite historical period is the 1930’s & 40’s – although they aren’t exactly historical :) i just love the dresses with the twirl skirts.
