My favorite historical time period is the colonial period but my favorite to sew is the 1960’s. Love retro!
1970s & 1980s because that’s when I grew up
My favorite historical time period would be the late 1700s/early 1800s. I love the long dress and the clever ways they used embellishments to add style to the garments.
It’s really hard to choose but I love those ’70’s clothes. Designers were experimenting with minis
and maxis. From one extreme to another-that’s courageous and that’s fashion!
I have always loved the Regency time period, so today’s freebie couldn’t be more perfect.
My favorite time period is the Civil War era. I love the beautiful ball gowns such as those featured in Gone With the Wind!
Hard to pick a favorite-I like the Edwardian, the 40’s. 50’s, and the 60’s. And the Revolutionary War era, Civil War, Elizabethan, and the Roaring 20’s. I love patterns that have accurate details.
My favorite historical time period is all of them! It’s so much fun when I spot something in today’s fashion that reminds me of past styles. Thank you for the giveaway!
My favorite time period for fashion is the early 1900’s because I am in love with the lovely, lacy white dresses worn for so many occasions during that time.
My favorite historical time period is Victorian.
I love, love, love the time period of clothing from the 1700’s Scotland setting of Outlanders. I love the wool skirts, dresses and shawls. The undergarments are interesting and the best part, the knitted items! I love the knitted shawls and fingerless gloves.
My favorite historical time period is the Regency period. I am going to be making some from that period in the new year!
My favorite historical time period would be classic styles of the ’40s and ’50s. Edith Head is my favorite designer.
I’d have to say my favorite time period is early the 1900’s, but 1930s is also one I lean toward since my grandparents grew up during that time!
My favorite historical time period for fashion was all of them. There’s something to be loved and respected from each era, some more than others I must say.
The 60s and 70s would be my favourite…brings back a lot of memories.lol
My favorite historical era is the 1940’s. I love the classic styles in the movies off that generation.

My favorite time period I’d the 1700’s, so elegant and detailed. I also love the 40’ look
My favorite historical time period is the 1960’s, love the Jackie O look!
My favorite time period is the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. The years when Laura Ingalls Wilder grew up.
Love 1940s
My favorite historical era is the Empire time. I’ve always preferred the simple lines and raised waistline (acually has seam just below bustline).
I like the clothing of any time period prior to 1930.
My favorite historical time period is Victorian. I love all the lace and details.
My favorite historical time period is the 1930s since both my parents were around 8-10 years old at the time. It would be nice to see some little boy fashions for this and other time periods on the site.
My favorite historical time period would be all of them, but I do like the steampunk style so maybe Victorian/Edwardian?
My favorite time period is the 1840s, partly because of involvement in reenactments,, and also because that is the time period ancestors on both sides of the family moved to this area when it was opened for settlement.
My favorite historical period would have to be the “Roaring Twenties” (1920’s) because it was a time when clothing was “dapper”
My favorite historical. Period is the 30s and 40s
My favorite historical period is the 1920. I love the “flapper” style of dresses.
“Ma période historique préférée est pour la France : la Révolution Française qui a premise à la France d’apporter plus d’égalité entre les citoyens et pour les USA je dirai la Révolution Américaine où vos ancêtres se sont battus pour votre Independence et le grand-père de mon grand-père a été mobilise par le comte (ou le marquis ?) de Grasse pour partir se battre à vos cotés. Mais la question du jour est un piège pour moi car j’aime l’Histoire et les histoire qui s’y mêlent”

I like comfortable function clothes of any era
My favorite historical time period would be the settlers moving west.
I enjoy all period fashion. However, my favorite historical time period for ladies garments is both the 1930’s and 1940’s, because of the cheerful, bright-colored garments made from feed sack fabrics. My grandparents were farmers, and they had a hundred acres of land with lots of animals to feed. Therefore, there was no shortage of feed sack fabric for my grandmother to make clothing for her family and beautiful quilts and other embroidered table and bed linens too. When I came along, decades later, she still had huge 5 foot tall bags of feed sack scraps for use that she shared with me. I was fascinated by her vintage pattern templates and how many inserts and panels of smaller fabric pieces could be joined to create fashion elements that looked like they were there solely for the purpose of fashion design, rather than for the need to clothe the family with less fabric on hand than had previously been available, and at a very economical cost. We made lots and lots of amazing things from those scraps; and she taught me the importance of never wasting my scraps and how to create design elements in garment construction to use leftover panels and scraps from other projects. All of those fabrics were bright and happy flowers and geometric designs. The hand to the fabric was so soft and pliable that it was an absolute joy to work with, either by hand or machine; plus it literally wore like iron. It looked like it was loosely woven with large woven threads compared to today’s standards; but it was very strong and resilient. When we grew out of the garments we made, we simply cut them up again and used the pieces a second time to make quilts with lovely memories of the garments they had once been. The historical significance of how feed sack fabric gave people what they needed to care for their families during a very trying time both during the Great Depression and during the II World War left a huge impression on me throughout my life. I am so grateful for the lessons learned at my grandmother’s knee and the joy we had sewing together..
My favorite historical time period is the 1940s. I loved the strong presence the fashion of the time gave to women. It was also the time women began really wearing pants. Kathrine Hepburn in pants, large shoulder pads, and a smile. :)
There are a lot! LOL! The 50’s because that is when I was born. The 70’s because I was a teen during that time. Renaissance because I love the beauty and opulence of the clothing and American Pioneer time because of the history.

I like the 1930’s and 40’s. I hope those styles make it back for people also.
My favorite historical time period is the Arts & Crafts era because women began to take control of their clothing choices. A call for Reform dress had begun in the mid 19th century, as men and women argued that the amount of women’s underclothing, the constrictive corset, and the sheer weight of women’s clothes were all harmful to women’s health. These health reformers sought alternatives to the constricting and uncomfortable fashionable styles in attempts to make fashion rational, hygienic and beautiful. This aesthetic dress movement that began in England was concerned about the excessive weight of women’s clothing. They also objected to the ornamentation of Victorian dress, favoring a simpler and cleaner line and decoration.

I have a hard time singling out any era of fashion I like best. Same with colors. I like a lot of colors! Lol. However, I do love the regency era, and am excited for today’s free pattern. Reminds me of all the Jane Austen movies and books I watched and read over and over in high school. Thanks for the fun pattern!
