Get to know Rebecca (in her own words): " When I was about 15, I asked my mom to make me a new pair of pajama pants. She turned to me and said “You make them.” I had no idea how to sew, but she taught me the basics. Afterwards I used her machine so much, my parents bought me my own for Christmas when I was 18. I never dreamed I’d be using it everyday for work! I started making doll clothes when my daughter received a Wellie Wisher for her birthday. After creating several of my own designs because we couldn’t find patterns for that size at the time, I looked into the opportunity to publish the designs through Pixie Faire. I had no idea I’d love it so much and it would turn into such an amazing job! Now I design for 18”-8” dolls including American Girl, WellieWisher, Little Bitty Baby, Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Ruby Red Siblies, and Ten Ping."

    Inquiring Minds Want To Know:

Q: What inspired your brand name?
Rebecca: After every other name I thought of was taken, so my son, our “Lil Turkey” inspired my brand name.

Q: What's your favorite sewing tip?
Rebecca: Using a pair of clean pliers to mash down bulky seams… After ironing, grading seam allowances, and clipping out the extra material fails to reduce the bulk in tiny spaces enough, I grab the pliers. Works every time.

Q: Is there a new hobby, craft, skill you’d like to learn?
Rebecca: Smocking. My great-aunt has done gorgeous hand smocking for so many years. She lives too far away for me to really spend enough time with her to learn. She’s given me lots of pieces she has made to use. They’re all so beautiful, I’d love to be able to make them as well as her.

Q: Who is your favorite doll?
Rebecca: Hands down my Ruby Red Holiday Bella.

We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which Crafty Lil'Turkey pattern design you love most! And be sure to thank Rebecca and the Pixie Faire team for giving away such cute outfits!

    Thanks, everyone!

What a cute idea! I have enjoyed several of your patterns. I too enjoy drafting patterns but if someone else already has done the work, I won’t re-invent the wheel. Thank you for your innovative ideas that have corresponded with my style.
