My favorite holiday tradition is decorating sugar cookies with my daughter for Santa while daddy is cooking dinner and grandma and grandpa are at church. It is a nice fun moment for us to have each year right before the holidays go into full swing.

My favorite Holiday tradition is making tamales on Christmas Eve. We assemble the first pot, get it cooking for it’s 2 hours… while we jump in the car and drive through the neighborhoods looking at the Christmas Lights. Come home to a house smelling of fresh cooked tamales – the best time to eat them. Yumm

Our tradition involves starting Christmas Eve, which is to read the traditional Bible story of the birth of Christ, as well as the wonderful “A Visit From St. Nick” (the one which starts with “Twas the night before Christmas”, ya know :-D Then we each open one gift and then go out and toss “reindeer food” outside (mixture of glitter and oatmeal).

My favorite holiday tradition is cooking. Gifts of food are always welcome and almost anyone can enjoy the items someone makes. Food can be sweet or healthy of a combination of items to give someone the ability to create a meal with the ingredients. Addition of spices creates flavors and will appeal to most taste buds. Food gift baskets are fun and easy to put together and custom design for the receiver.

Since we are now only three of us we get up in the morning and open our family gifts which we try to keep to a minimum. We have given lots to charity and help promote the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Bell and donate a good many items to St. Vincent de Paul to help to give families with less than us a better Christmas. I hope that our small contribution helps those in need.

My favorite holiday tradition is making Christmas cookies and pies on Christmas Eve while watching holiday movies or listening to (and singing) Christmas carols together as a family. When the baking is done, we like to pile into the car with cocoa and drive around town looking at all of the beautiful Christmas lights. How wonderful it is when that day falls on a Sunday or Wednesday, because we can enjoy the holiday lights as we return home following our wonderful evening church service with our church family. God is so good! We are very blessed. Happy holidays to everyone!
