I sew, knit, and crochet (you name it), primarily as a hobby for enjoyment and for gifts. On average I spend at least 3-4 evenings weekly and weekends creating gifts. Someday, I would like to have my own Etsy store and sell !8 inch doll clothes that don’t cost a fortune so every doll can have a wonderful wardrobe!

I sew primarily as a hobby and spend a really variable amount of time per week at it, depending on other things I have going on (from 6 to 24 hours per week). I participate in a couple of charity sewing groups which usually adds about another 8 -10 hours per week.

I knit primarily as a hobby, but I will spend upwards of 40 hours a week knitting. I hope to return to my quilting which will reduce the time spent knitting and show an increased time in sewing. The sewing/quilting will also be a hobby, at least until I get to sewing doll clothes.

I sew for my own pleasure. I like to sew for my family and friends it will depend on what I am making as to how much time I spend sewing. If I have a project I am working on I can spend 4-5 hours a day, then it could be a week or two till I will start again. .

I’ve sewn since I was 8 years old. Was chubby and made my own clothes. Started on a tredle machine. We moved 9 times in 40 years and I did all the curtains in each home. I also sewed my kids clothes to save money when they were small. I taught myself to crochet this past year at age 74. I spend about 20 hours a week doing sewing and crochet for my granddaughters now. Would love to have these parrerns to make more for them.

I have been seeing since I was 5 years old so it is a way of life for me. Sometimes I sew for fun and other time for someone else, occasionally to sell. I tend to immerse myself in sewing projects and sew 10-12 hours at a time, then not for a while.

I am in the process of making a wardrobe of clothes for a little daughter of a missionary. This will be here “Santa” gift next year. Even the parents have no idea where the quilts this year came from. So much fun to do something that you know will be unexpected and make someone so happy.

When I had younger kids I created a lot of their outfits and when I was even younger I made all my own dolls clothes. But now I sew only to mend things. I would love to make some of the adorable and beautiful items I see on your site. Until I learn my Serger and find the time away from book making I can only admire and purchase from others who have perfected their skills. I do spend a fair amount of time window shopping.

I started making my own clothes when I was in Junior High School almost 50 years ago. I made clothes for my younger brothers as well. After I was married I started making clothes for my boys and my nieces. In the late 70’s I started a small hobby business making baby doll and Barbie clothes. When I learned about American Girl, I started sewing for them and never stopped. I do a couple of craft shows a year selling AG, Bitty Baby and Wellie Wisher’s clothing. I also crochet in my spare time as something to do while I watch TV. I spend about 5 hours a day in my sewing room.

I sew primarily for my home based business which has spanned almost 50 years . I have a major love for sewing and creating. Previous to 2006 I owned and operated a Seamstress Salon specializing in dressing brides and clients for their rememberable events in their lives. Closing the salon that year, retiring and relocating I turned my attention to primarily sewing doll fashions and accessories for little girls and big girls too which are sold at Doll Shows and like events. Doll Patterns throughout the years were difficult to obtain especially any type of historical outfit. When I discovered this site I was overjoyed that finally someone offered doll patterns to fit the historical eras of life. You see I was a curator and historian also once upon a time and kinda partial to the Victorian age.. How many hours do I sew per week – it can depend if it is Doll Season- maybe up to 40 hours. To all of you at Pixie Faire thank you for starting this website and for your love of dolls and sewing.
