I have 4 sewing machines, a serger, and an embroidery machine, all of which I use for doll clothes making, as well as costuming students.

I sew primarily to make historical outfits for my daughter’s AG dolls. I love to do it when I can find the time. It’s been a while since I’ve had a good groove going due to moving/packing/unpacking and then having to put everything away again for the holidays. But once the decorations are put away, I will get it all out again and set up shop in my dining room. Once I get a good groove going, I spend ~ 8-10 hours per week working on an outfit. I’m self taught in the past 5 years and it takes me a long time to create one outfit, but it’s complete with dress, bloomers/cami and bonnets!
As a mother of 6 adult children and a grandmother of 12, I sew primarily as a hobby, making clothes and accessories for dollies, Barbies, stuffies etc, and I also do a lot of mending of blue jeans. I think my new record is 18 patches on one pair of pants! On average, I spend 8 hours per week on various sewing projects.

I sew both as a very enjoyable hobby and for my business, which started by making doll clothes for my granddaughters. I’m trying to reduce and make good use of a huge fabric stash left over from my quilting days. I LOVE doing this and spend on average about 24 hrs. a week – sometimes less, sometimes a lot more. I sew most afternoons and some evenings.

I sew and knit mainly for my home based business and for charity donations. I probably spend 30-40 hours a week doing this but it’s woven in with family responsibilities so some days it’s more and some days less.
