I don’t remember what the Native Italian costume would look like, although I think it’s a longish skirt and white peasant blouse and a colorful shawl. My family keeps the traditions alive with food, especially the 7 fishes dinner on Christmas eve. we look forward to it all year.

One of the cultural events we participate in is our church Smorgasbord. Our covenant church originated in Sweden, as does the tradition of coming together to share a special Smorgasbord meal. The menu started out Swedish but, has grown to include food from other nations such as Samoa, Africa, Ukraine, & Mexico, prepared by ethnic congregations who meet in our church.

I don’t believe I’ve seen a pattern for a Peruvian doll outfit. That might be a bright & fun addition, especially with the popularity of llama stuffed animals & imagery.

A favorite cultural tradition I take part in is making cookies at Christmas. My grandmother always did this when we visited. It was so much fun for everyone to decorate the cookies and take them round to our friends. There are several cultural patterns I would like to find on Pixie Faire, such as a traditional Russian dancing outfit for girls, an Irish dancing costume (as beautiful as these Scottish ones!), more Asian costumes, and Mardi Gras outfits.

I love this question. I often go to the local Scottish Festival. I have some Scottish ancestry. But, like many other people have mentioned, I often cook food from Germany. My grandmother was German and her mother had been a cook. I am glad to see the Scottish and German patterns which Pixie Faire offers. I would like to see a suit for a male Flamenco dancer.

Where I live, there is a lot of diversity and lots of cultures to learn about and experience. While I hold dear to my own Canadian culture and traditions, I love learning about the various traditions and celebrations of others. Whether it is the Highland games in July (in the park two blocks away) or Diwali or Kwanza, the sights, smells, laughter and togetherness is always fun to partake in.

Two cultural traditions that I greatly enjoy can be traced to my maternal grandfather and great-grandmother. She passed on her love of singing Irish songs and her great scone recipes. I love to sing Irish ditties, with an accent of course, every day, (because they don’t sound nearly as great without the accent); and I make lots of varieties of scones. We eat scones at least once or twice a month and give them as gifts on a regular basis. My daughter doesn’t sing; but she shares her own scone magic with friends and co-workers too. My family also tried to pass on the ability to clog, as they were both fantastic Irish dancers too; but sadly, the clogging gene passed me by. I do, however, love watching Celtic dancing and singing on TV whenever the opportunity presents itself. Everything Irish reminds me of my dear grandfather and great-grandmother, and it makes me smile. Your Celtic outfits are simply adorable. They remind me of awesome days as a child watching my grandpa and his mom dancing with pure joy and great enthusiasm. So much laughter, love, and happy memories. I can almost hear your dolls dancing now. :)
