A tradition that I started after my thirteen grandchildren were born was to give each family unit or individuals a sum of money when we gather at Thanksgiving. Before we gather at Christmas, they use this money to bless someone else. Before we open gifts each family reveals how they helped someone else. I never tell them the amount or how it is to be distributed so that they cannot plan ahead. It is fun to hear their stories.

A FAVORITE CULTURAL TRADITION I TAKE PART IN OR FIND INTERESTING has no special costumes, but it is a tradition I hope our family never stops enjoying. That tradition is our huge family reunion each year! Every summer our family comes together from points all over this United States to visit and spend at least one day together. We all bring food (some homemade and some bought) and crafts that we do to share with each other. There’s always fun, games, and lots of social interaction that keeps our family close. We learn what’s been going on in everyone’s life and get to meet many new members of the family as babies are born and children are growing up and starting families of their own. I look forward to it every year!
