“My favorite Holiday tradition is different from when I was a kid. Since having kids we have made it a tradition that the kids cant come downstairs until we go get them. That way we can have our coffee n wake up. We usually get them out of bed by 6.

My favorite holiday tradition is making Oyster Stew for Christmas Eve Dinner. This tradition started my first Christmas. My father was hit by a drunk driver on Christmas Eve and refused to stay in the hospital even though his jaw was wired. My mother went to the market and found a can of oyster stew which he could manage due to the milky broth. We have perfected our own recipe over the years and this year I taught my two daughters how to make it this year so that the tradition continues! Merry Christmas everyone!

In 1954 my mother knit Christmas socks for me and my nephew. She continued to make them with the birth of each grandchild until she could not do it anymore. Then I took over in 1997 knitting for her great grandkids and then my grandkids. Each sock on the cuff has their name on one side and their birth year on the other side. With a sequined Christmas tree on the leg and merry Christmas.

My favorite holiday tradition is making old-fashioned chocolate fudge candy (using the recipe saved from a Hershey’s Cocoa box more than 50 years ago!) the kind you have to boil slowly for more than half an hour. It’s so worth it!

When the kids were little we turned off all electronics and lights except the Christmas tree. We sat around it and sang a Christmas song or two. Yes, we could tell it delayed bedtime, but we loved it as much as the kids. Merry Christmas! doni @ Oregon coast

My favorite holiday tradition is picking a male child off the giving tree the same as age as my son would be who died 2 hours after birth. It allows us to shop for a boy we miss, keep his memory alive and help a child and love the teaching of Jesus. This year he would be 9.

My favorite Holiday tradition is going to see the model train display in Pittsburgh. Different guys said they’d take me, but when one guy said OK and took me there right then, I knew this was the one! We’ve gone every year together since then; this is our 31st year. It used to be at the Buhl Planetarium, but since they built the Science Center next to the river, it is in a big room there. Our son has loved it, and looks forward to our trip every year.

When I taste it, it brings back all the wonderful memories of being a child with my parents and grandparents and the laughter. My most favorite tradition is the Christmas Eve candlelight service at church! I wish we would do that a few weeks earlier to remind us, me, why we celebrate Christmas! It isn’t the cards, gifts, baking that sometimes causes some stress; it is about one tiny baby’s birth! Thank you Jesus.

My favorite Christmas tradition is …….Spending time with family. Our children with significant others and grand daughter come home to share a meal and exchange gifts with us. The tree is lit, the house smells from cooking and Christmas music is playing on the Echo. Today we will finish rolling and baking the pfeffernusse cookies. Grandma Alice has long passed… however, the family traditions passed to my husband continue with ours. When the cookies are done and cooling, we begin to set the table for our holiday meal. Wonderful taking time to be
