My favorite Holiday tradition is is not on Christmas Day but on December 26. After Christmas Eve with Family and Friends and Christmas Day with another family, we celebrate our Christmas with presents on this day. After everyone makes their favorite brunch, the grandkids play board games while we clean up and then we open our gifts. We started this years ago to teach our family that Christmas is not about the presents but the love of spending family time together. Now the kids all seem to get it!

My favorite holiday tradition is the big breakfast we eat together on Christmas morning right after we’ve opened all of the presents. It’s a nice, together time when everyone is content and there’s nothing else to worry about doing for the rest of the day. This year my kids are even going to do the cooking!

… is going to Church on Christmas Eve. I love the festive feeling, and the reenactment of the Holy Birth. Our weather here on the West Coast isn’t always good for driving on Christmas Eve, so it’s a special treat when I’m able to make it. Church, family, feelings of peace, love, joy ❤️

Although our kids are now gone, On Christmas Eve, when our kids were little each of us would have to choose a book in good condition (If it wasn’t in good condition, it was placed in a separate pile for a later donation. It could not be someone else’s book. It had to be one of your own. If it was someone else’s book, it was not counted towards the book you choose, but it the owner was in agreement, it could be placed in the pile.) Then all the children’s books were taken to the Children’s Hospital and the adult books went to the Veteran’s Hospital. It was so much fun and really showed our kids the importance of giving something you really liked to someone who needed cheering up.

My favorite holiday tradition which was something we all enjoyed, was receiving new pjs on Christmas Eve with a cartoony Christmas theme. Then we would wear them all day Christmas Day even to go to our Aunt’s House. It was something we always did and a fun way to dress up. No one would wear anything but pajamas and we would celebrate in them all day :)

My favorite holiday tradition (so hard to choose only one!) is gathering family on Christmas Eve for supper then opening a couple gifts each around the tree. I enjoy my family time and also remembering the story to each of the ornaments starting from 1900’s blown glass ornaments from my parents to the childhood ones purchased every year for the kids, to the special “new” old ones added this year. That’s 49 years of my own family memories plus my childhood and my parents, who are both long gone.
