I sew primarily as depression therapy. On average, I spend several hours a week sewing.

I sew as a hobby. I usually spend around 3-5 hours a week in my sewing room. Now I am mostly sewing doll clothes for my granddaughter and friends. I just finished two 1800’s outfits for a friend’s granddaughter’s Felicity doll that she got for Christmas. They were really fun to make. I would like this year to learn to quilt.

I sew mostly as a hobby. There is no usual amount of time I spend on it in any given week, though. If I have a project on hand, I’ll work on it until it’s done. Sometimes, I don’t have any project I’m working on, and therefore don’t do any sewing at all.
My reasons for sewing have changed through the years as have the time spent. As a child I made doll clothes as my Mother and Grandmother sewed. As a teen I made clothes for myself including prom dresses. I became a Home Economics teacher because I wanted to share my love of sewing. I have sewn for my own children and now for my grandchildren. I relax, as well as feel creative and productive. While the time spent fluctuates with the seasons and the reason for the project.

I always like needle craft. I am a belgian lacemaker (since 1982) and I made all doll’s clothes for our daughter Marie who is 34 years old now. I gave her a little Sasha doll when her little brother (François) is born. She was always looked at me when she was child and now I am proud of her because she likes sewing (she makes her own shirt), she likes knitting and makes very beautiful embroideries of her own imagination. So, sew, is family pleasure. Moreover, I like “playing” doll and my dream is to win a American doll. So… I hope to be lucky this time ! Thank you in advance.
I am new to needlework. I am still in the process of learning. Last week, I crocheted a scarf for my husband! I do not have a set amount of time in my schedule for needlework. I so it when I have time.

its hard to say.. I’ve been sewing on a machine for about 55 years. and have done a whole lot of everything from quilting where I started with my mom. to wedding gowns, drapes, everything my children wore. but their shoes and socks..lol . lots of dolly clothes for every doll there is or was.. sew about 6 hr. a day now andfinally back where I started on quilts..but with lots of grand girls doll clothes seem to take priority..thank you for adding a great veriety to choose from.

I have always sewed since I was a child. I love sewing and make all my own clothes and I love making doll clothes as well. I go to a craft sale in November each year and sell my doll clothes. I have given many doll clothes away to charities and needy children at Christmas. Sewing is a hobby for me but also rewarding as I am able to wear clothes that fit and exactly what I like!

I sew because it is my passion and gives me great joy. I love learning new things and I love to share the joy of sewing by teaching. In this season of my life I am serving as the costume mistress for my daughter’s ballet company. Before a show, I can be sewing all day, every day. I have learned a lot sewing for VA Ballet Co and school. In the upcoming off season, I am going to teach some adults to sew and some of the youth at the ballet studio.
When my children were little, I made a lot of their clothes. I love to do heirloom sewing and smocking and would often make doll clothes that coordinated with their clothes. I smock for fun and relaxation.

Sewing doll clothes for my 11 granddaughters started out as a hobby before I retired. Now, to keep busy after retirement, I sew primarily for a small hobby business for 15-30 hours per week depending upon the season, orders, and upcoming granddaughters’ birthdays. Often my doll clothes are donated to local charitable organizations for fund raising support.

I embroidered a few musical notes on it and it was a great success! Knitting, however, is my greatest passion! I knit whenever I have time!
