I knit and crochet primarily as a hobby. Now that I’m trying to do the work of 2 people at my job, I’m lucky if I get in an hour a week on the average :( But I have a 2018 resolution to fix that: Work less, knit more!

I sew primarily for my own entertainment. I do however love sewing doll clothes for my 3 granddaughters. It’s fun to see their faces as they open their packages at Christmas & birthdays. They get so excited for the new outfits they run for their dolls and dress them right away. Thank you Pixie Faire for the great patterns & inspiration.

I sew primarily to make costumes and dressy clothes for my grandchildren and clothes for me. How much time I spend per week varies, depending on the frequency of demand and the need for speed. Usually I’m sent a photo as a starting point, plus a few measurements.
Between finding a suitable pattern, to adapt and figuring out what’s needed, altering the size to fit my nonstandard cuties, buying the fabric, cutting and sewing it up, it’s a good two weeks each time. And let’s not forget the time spent praying that it actually will fit!

I sew primarily as a hobby. I started out dressing dolls for my daughter but then went on to dress dolls in my collection. I enjoy dressing them and photographing them to accompany articles that I write for Doll Castle News, a doll collector’s magazine. I sew in spurts because I have many other hobbies, but when I’m in a sewing mood, I make many doll outfits at once and I spend many of my evenings at the task, probably around 8 to 10 hours a week.

I knit, sew, and occasionally crochet items for my family and doll clothing for my collection of dolls (which are mostly Victorian but also have AG and others ranging in size from 8-36") and my grand and great granddaughters collections. I find it is very relaxing and satisfying to do any of the projects so always have several items on the needles and cut out to sew up so average at least an hour a day as some days will do an entire project and take full day others just a couple.
