What’s your passion? “I sew doll clothes primarily as a hobby and I participate in 2-3 small local craft shows a year. I would guess I sew an average of 10 hours a week. I make fun affordable doll clothes and sell them so every little girl can have awesome doll clothes to play with. Prices make mom’s and grandma’s happy, and I am happy creating outfits.

I sew, knit and crochet primarily as a complement to my story blog for children, The Doll’s Storybook, and on average, I spend about 40 hours a week on this endeavor, including my book, “Mariah: Stories from The Doll’s Storybook.” I don’t make any money from it. I don’t have an Etsy shop, although I use some of the Etsy shops for things like shoes.

I sew as a hobby. I taught myself how to sew when I was 12 years old and have continued into my 70’s. I started sewing doll clothes for my younger sister an now sew for my granddaughter’s AG and Wellie Wisher dolls as well as my own. I transitioned from doll clothes, to my clothes, to large quilts, to baby quilts and finally back to doll clothes. It’s been quite a journey.

I sew, knit, and crochet, I also work with leather. I was a professional seamstress for years, but now I just do crafting for myself and family. Finally have time to start quilting again after years of not having any time because of making money to pay bills. Depending on the time of year I spend anywhere from 4-6 hours a day doing my therapy time!

I sew on average about 4 hours a day for pleasure, therapy and my Etsy business called “Eliza Jane’s Closet . I make clothing for primarily collectors of 18” dolls like American Girl. I purchase the bulk of fabric and supplies on Etsy, and most of the patterns I use are purchased from Pixie Faire. We live miles from a fabric shop, so these online companies make it possible for me to find most anything I need and want without having to drive long distances. I love both Etsy and Pixie Faire!

Lately I have been doing a lot of alterations and repairs for friends and family non gratis so as for running a business I guess I’m not very good. I don’t particularly like doing it so I wouldn’t consider it a hobby. I did make and sold American Girl doll clothes when my sister owned a toy shop and made some extra $. I also worked for Ashton Drake Galleries which was a paying gig sewing doll clothes that I enjoyed. I sew whenever I can find time which is sporadic. I am hoping that there might be an Etsy shop in my future if I can ever get it together. :-)

I sew primarily as a hobby. Throughout 2020 my time in my sewing room has varied. Creativity came to me in other ways; I refinished 2 vintage wood cabinets, tried deco mesh wreaths, did a cross stitch and sewed burrito style pillow cases for Christmas gifts as well as helped to stage two different homes for sale. I’ve only ever sold items (pillow cases, AG doll pj’s) at a craft sale in 2019 and there was a high level of interest which I hope to repeat in 2021. Donating & gifting is my thing. There is always something to do and Pixie Faire is always there to add to the list. Lol
